WHAT HAPPENS AT THE AUDITION?
Dance Audition – students are taught a short piece of choreography that they will learn together as a group. Once the choreography has been learnt, students will present this in small groups. Students are not expected to be dance trained. We are looking for students who are willing to have a go.
Please ensure that you wear comfortable and appropriate clothing and shoes that you can move in. Hair should be out of faces so we can easily identify you.
Character Auditions – students will need to present a verse and chorus of a song sung by their chosen character from the musical. A backing track will be used in the auditions.
Students will also need to memorise and present one of the character audition pieces (these are printed and pinned to the pinboard outside the dance studio). Students should read about the character they are auditioning for and present it in a way they think the character might be portrayed. Students might be directed to present the script in a range of ways in the audition. This is to establish how well the student can take direction. Students may also be asked to read for multiple characters. In this instance, you will be able to read from the script.
Call Backs – some students may be requested to been seen for a follow up audition. If this is the case, you will be told what to prepare.
