Student Representative Council
Geelong High School has a proud tradition and history of providing a range of opportunities to help develop the leadership qualities of students that attend the school.
The school sees leadership as being important to successful personal outcomes, both at school and as productive members of the broader community.
Geelong High School provides students with a range of opportunities to develop their leadership skills in the Student Representative Council, the Performing Arts (Drama, Music and Dance), Debating and Public Speaking and within the very strong vertical House System that underpins the structure of the school program.
The school’s Student Representative Council has a very strong history and provides explicit opportunities for students to experience and develop their leadership skills. Student representatives are elected from each year level by their peers.
The Student Representative Council meets and discusses whole school issues and works together to communicate ideas and lead activities such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt, the Student Talent Fest and a variety of other fundraising activities. The Student representative Council also conducts a number of whole-school assemblies with the SRC Investiture and the ANZAC Day assemblies being important features of the school calendar.
Senior student leaders are given the opportunity to attend the VicSRC leadership camp where they participate in workshops that aim to build their leadership skills.
Our year 12 School Captains proudly lead the student body, representing the school in the School Council and ensuring that our students contribute successfully to our local, national and international communities.
