SCHOOL SPORTS GEELONG - BELLARINE & BARWON DISTRICTS - SSV-SSG
Geelong High School, like all Geelong state secondary schools, participate in a range of inter-school sports as part of the School Sport Geelong Competition. There are two districts: Bellarine and Barwon with Geelong High being part of the Bellarine District. The two districts play off to achieve a Geelong winner.
The school competes in the Bellarine Division for Athletics, however Swimming and Cross Country is run as a combined day with all of the schools together.
Team sports include: badminton, basketball, baseball, football, golf, hockey, lawn bowls, netball, table tennis, tennis, soccer, and volleyball.
Selection for these teams takes place during school time with coaching from staff as well as senior students.
Individual sports are based on age groups from 13 to 20 years while team sport in organised as Year 7, Year 8, Intermediate and Senior.
WESTERN METRO
Success at the Geelong competition in all sports allows students to progress to the Western Metro Division competition against other schools from this district.
Winners will then progress to the SSV final.
SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA (SSV)
All school sport both primary and secondary comes under the umbrella of School Sport Victoria.
This is the final level of sport at the State level.
The SSV also organises Victorian teams for the Australian championships.
